Looking back at the first Prashad Garden 2018

As the sun’s rays become warmer, thoughts about the prashad garden season arise. Maybe a few pictures of the first prashad garden, started in 2018, would be interesting.

Several sevadars envisioned where the garden could be located. The location was chosen for the richness of the soil behind the house.

Several local farmers helped prepare the soil for planting. One farmer plowed and rototilled the ground. This is the first time this soil has been disturbed for many years. Another farmer supplied us with rich compost. There was a lot of vegetation, especially golden rods and wild raspberries, that we had to deal with. Despite the plowing, planting compost was not easy because of the plants’ root systems that had grown there for many years.

This is how the land looked before the garden was created.

This picture shows the farmer beginning to plow the soil. This is the first time this soil has been disturbed for many years.

After plowing, another farmer rototilled the soil to prepare it for planting.

A farmer supplied us with a load of rich, organic compost.

Sevadars are planting the first prashad garden.

Tired but happy after a full day of planting.

A lot has changed over the years, but those of us who were there at these
humble beginnings, remember these days fondly.
